Fundraising for the Défi des générations kicks off - the CHUS Foundation wants to raise $10,000 for health

Community initiatives

Today is the official launch of the Défi des générations, a unique philanthropic movement that brings together several hospital foundations across the province, covering 9 regions, 12 CISSS, CIUSSS and CHU.

Défi des générations

The CHUS Foundation is joining this large-scale fundraising event whose objective is to collectively raise $1 million to support hospitals in order to enable them to offer quality, safe and technologically advanced care.

A spokesperson since the very beginning, Josée Lavigueur invites the Quebec population, all generations combined, to join the movement.

By joining the movement, the CHUS Foundation wishes to raise funds that will be used for the continuous improvement of health care offered to the population who attend the Fleurimont Hospital and the Hôtel-Dieu de Sherbrooke.

“This is the first time that the CHUS Foundation has joined this provincial initiative. We know the generosity of people in Estrie who do not hesitate to organize various fundraisers for a cause that is important to them. The Défi des générations is a great opportunity to do so! We are fortunate to have a university hospital center and an exceptional center of expertise in Sherbrooke and I thank in advance all those who will agree to take on a small or big challenge for the well-being of the population.”

declares the executive director of the CHUS Foundation, Martin Clermont.

It is in the form of a pan-Quebec event that is inclusive and accessible to all that citizens will be able to choose a way to surpass themselves while soliciting those around them in order to collect donations through the Foundation's crowdfunding platform. The challenges may or may not be sporty, inspiring examples are available on the website of the event at defidesgenerations.com. Regardless of how they choose to excel, participants will directly help Hôpital Fleurimont and Hôtel-Dieu de Sherbrooke to meet their most urgent needs!

Solidarity, a guarantee of increased impact

The Défi des générations is much more than an event. It is the largest fundraising movement in support of hospitals. It is a social project that is part of a wider desire to transform health care and make the network more efficient.

Indeed, hospital foundations are the government's key allies in improving access to care by offering more research, more innovation, more patient well-being. They play a crucial role in helping to invest in projects that reduce waiting times for surgeries and the length of hospital stays, in equipment and training, and in innovation.

Registrations are open! Join this great wave of solidarity for hospitals that will flood Quebec until September 23 thanks to the support of valuable sponsors, including our media partner: Québecor.

“This year is marked by major changes for the health system. We continue to deploy the vision of the Health Plan for a more human and more efficient health and social services network. I can only welcome this initiative by several hospital foundations from all over the country. It is great to see that we are all mobilizing to offer ourselves the best health care in Quebec.”

Christian Dubé, Minister of Health

“All ideas are good! It can be as simple as committing yourself to reading a book per week, doing yoga every morning, organizing a waste collection operation... All goals count to make a difference! ”
