They have been passionately practicing their nursing profession for more than 30 years in Fleurimont or at the Hôtel-Dieu, have taught students and... have been playing comedy since the very beginning of the Theater Troupe of the CHUS! They have been on the stage at every performance since the existence of the troupe, founded in 2001 by the former director of the CHUS Foundation, Michel Poulin.
It will be the 18th play this fall with the presentation of CHUS Bougon!, on November 15, 16 and 17, an adaptation of the famous show Les Bougon is also that life.
“I am really excited to play Rita. It's a role that's completely different from me! ”, says Brigitte with a laugh, who has also been taking advantage of her retirement to do repairs as a nurse at the Hôtel-Dieu outpatient clinic for... 17 years! “It's a great end to my career for me. As long as my health and my cognitive abilities allow me to, I will continue! ” You also need health and memory to play in theater. She calculates that she devotes about 70 hours to it to learn the texts, participate in rehearsals, and create the sets. “Last year, I made my astronaut costume to play Tesla in a Galaxy near you, my favorite role so far! She broke her French, it was fun to play! ” This year, Marc-André is resigning himself to leaving his suits in the closet.
“It is with a big twinge of heart that I take this decision. I am moving on, but for sure I will miss it. It is a great pleasure to do this and it is for a good cause. I will always be there to invite people to go see the play and to encourage the Fondation du CHUS.”
Marc-Andrée has learned 200 pages of texts over the years and has played 12 main roles, including that of Pôpa in the Petite Vie. It was the role he enjoyed playing the most. “The actor Bernard Fortin, who appeared in the play, gave me valuable advice. I have learned a lot, supported by incredible partners during all these years, such as Marcel Leboeuf, Joël Legendre, Sylvain Carrier, Robert DeCourcel, Stéphane Baillargeon...”, relates Marc-André, who recalls, not without laughter, his first role in Bowling where he was playing a “gogo boy.”
“My first role, I was hidden behind a fir tree to make it move!” exclaims Brigitte who says to herself that she could have never been back on stage because the evening had been so long! But team spirit won out as well as his desire to get involved for users and staff.
“I see it every day as a nurse. Instruments financed by the Foundation are used. It doesn't always have to be million-dollar scans! I am very happy to be able to offer quality care to our patients.”
This is what Brigitte explains, who also feels a great sense of belonging within the troupe. “Whether you are an attendant, doctor, inhaler or office worker, it is an activity that brings everyone together. We forget our professional roles. We have a lot of fun and we give it to the people who come to see us who are for the most part our colleagues, our friends and our family! ”
We invite you to support the Theatre Troupe des du CHUS on November 15, 16 or 17, which is presenting CHUS Bougon!, for the benefit of the Fondation du CHUS.
