Community initiatives
The great movement of solidarity with our hospitals that was animated across Quebec arrived at its destination on September 23, when the Generations Challenge was ending. Together, the hundreds of participants who went above and beyond for their regional hospitals have so far managed to raise $730,355. Across Sherbrooke, $11,582 was raised!
Remember that the funds raised through a host of sometimes sporting, creative and even unusual initiatives are intended to meet concrete and urgent needs to be met in our Quebec hospitals. The funds raised by the CHUS Foundation will be donated to research in gyneco-oncology, hemato-oncology and to the general fund, which makes it possible to meet various often urgent needs.
“This year, the CHUS Foundation participated in the Défi des générations, a provincial challenge that combines hospital foundations from across Quebec, and we are happy to have raised more than $11,000 for the Fleurimont Hospital, the Hôtel-Dieu de Sherbrooke and the CHUS Research Center,” says Martin Clermont, Executive Director of the CHUS Foundation. “A huge thank you to the participants who took up the challenge for the benefit of health in Estrie..”
This year, 16 foundations took part in this collective project, which is unique in Quebec. The organizers of the Challenge would also like to point out that this entire adventure would not have been possible without the invaluable support of their provincial media partner, Québecor.
About the Défi des générations
The Défi des générations is a unique solidarity movement, taking the form of a vast online donation drive in support of hospitals in the province. In 2023, 16 hospital foundations covering 9 regions, 12 CISSS, CIUSSS and CHU joined the movement. Our goal is for the Défi des générations to bring together all hospital foundations in Quebec by 2025. For more information, visit this website.
