The CHUS Foundation is appealing to donors to finance a new integrated operating room, at the cutting edge of technology, at the Fleurimont Hospital of the CIUSSS de l'Estrie — CHUS. This operating room, the tenth of the operating room of this university hospital center, will be completely unique and requires significant investment for its construction and layout.

This integrated room will be able to serve several specialties in laparoscopic surgery and will improve accessibility for patients and thus reduce waiting lists.
“In addition, the room will provide an ergonomic working environment for medical teams. Staff will no longer have to move the equipment because it will be permanently installed at a height, which will reduce the risk of injuries and the time between two procedures, explains Dr. Émilie Comeau, surgeon. Everything you need will be at hand, thanks to articulated arms, whether images in radiology, endoscopy or medical records for example. This integrated room, which will make it possible to increase the number of procedures performed in the operating room, represents a major innovation for greater efficiency and safety in the care given to our patients.”
The CHUS Foundation is committed to financing this important $5.5 million project.
“The forecasts made by the establishment clearly demonstrate that this new operating room is necessary to meet future increases in needs. This is an essential project for patients and highly anticipated by operating room staff.”
adds the director general of the CHUS Foundation, Mr. Martin Clermont.
