As part of its major 2018-2022 fundraising campaign, the CHUS Foundation can count on the financial support of Desjardins, which is committed to awarding $250,000 to fund the Desjardins Postdoctoral and Doctoral Research Fellowship program over a period of five years. The aim of these grants is to encourage dynamic and successful young researchers during their doctoral or postdoctoral internship.

In total, eight grants will be awarded starting in spring 2022. They will be linked to the following areas of research, according to the main focus of the research fellowship: cancer, diabetes, obesity and cardiovascular complications, medical imaging, inflammation-pain, mother-child, health (populations, organization, practices).

“The events we have experienced over the past few months remind us how science, research, health institutions and the experts who work in them play a fundamental role in the well-being of individuals and communities. This is why Desjardins is responding and will support the Fondation du CHUS for the next five years. An organization that has positive repercussions not only for the Estrie region, but also for Quebec,” said Michel Cantin, Vice President, Development and Partnerships, Ouest du Québec — Mouvement Desjardins.
For his part, Dr. André Carpentier, Scientific Director of the CHUS Research Center (CRCHUS), welcomes with great gratitude the announcement of this commitment by Desjardins. “This donation will make it possible to further develop the expertise of the Research Center, which already stands out for its scientific and technological leadership in several research sectors, both locally and internationally. I am confident that such grants will attract talent, and at the same time make our main areas of research and the expertise of CRCHUS researchers even more visible.”
