As part of its major campaign, the CHUS Foundation is pleased to highlight the $100,000 donation offered by Club Piscine Super Fitness Sherbrooke. The amount will be invested in the purchase of equipment for a physical activity room that will be converted into child psychiatry in the future Mother-Child and Emergency Center (CMEU) at the Fleurimont Hospital of the CIUSSS de l'Estrie - CHUS.
This exercise room is for adolescents who are hospitalized on the unit and for those who attend the day hospital. The owners of Club Piscine Super Fitness Sherbrooke, Mr. François Miville, Mr. Joël Paquette and Ms. Andréanne Paquette want to get involved in their community.
“It is important for us to contribute to making a difference and with the Fondation du CHUS, we can do it! Our donation goes directly to people in our community and in this project, to young people who need to move for their physical and mental health. The health of the next generation is important to us! ”,
declares Ms. Paquette.
The physical activity room will accommodate up to eight patients accompanied by two speakers. Treadmills, stationary bikes, rowing machines, punching balls and floor mats will offer several possibilities.
“Physical activity can be considered as a complementary aid to various medical and pharmacological approaches. It is a chance to have a donor who, with their contribution, will have a significant impact for these young people.”
supports the director general of the CHUS Foundation, Mr. Martin Clermont.
The Mother-Child and Emergency Center (CMEU) is currently under construction and is scheduled to open in 2024. This is a $328.8 million project.
